Before LO, I would spend up to an hour cooking dinner on weekdays and even longer on weekends (I love to cook!). Now, with a 5 month old, the most "cooking" I've done is boil pasta and heat up marinara sauce :P I miss being in the kitchen...

For dinner, I can only get a meal on the table if it takes less than 30 minutes.

@sweetchic: it seems like much of Rachel ray's prep work is already done before she starts cooking, which helps. Or done during commercial breaks, but isn't prep that a normal, single cook could do in 3 min or less. Annoying.

We spend a lot of time cooking, but cooking is relaxing for both of us, so we like to spend that much time in the kitchen.

@sweetchic: Me, too! I have NEVER made a 30-minute meal in 30 minutes! I think it might because I can't chop veggies like the pros. Chopping things takes me ages!

Dinner typically takes me about an hour. We pack our lunches, and usually take either leftovers or a sandwich for lunch, so it takes us maybe 10 minutes or so to put that together. We take grab-and-go stuff for breakfast - granola bars, yogurt, and clementines. And it all goes in our lunch bags.

Dinner always takes at least 45 minutes, even when we're making something relatively simple. I always shake my head at Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals because that's just not possible for me. And it's not even like I'm a novice in the kitchen... I've been cooking for 10+ years!!

Breakfast is always simple so no cooking involved normally. Dinner takes about 30-45 minutes. I'm always starving by the time I get home so I try to prep as much stuff in the morning and/or pick simple recipes.

A couple of hours. Dinner usually takes me an hour. Breakfast and lunch take a little while because I spend so much time standing in the kitchen deciding what I want to make.

Probably about 30 -45 minutes. Since I'm only feeding myself, baby in my tummy, and my husband we usually only cook dinner.

Typically I make oatmeal in the microwave at work in the mornings and eat a sandwich for lunch which does not involve much cooking but a little preparation.

I spend about 20 minutes every morning packing Charlie's breakfast and lunch. He's been waking up later lately, so he usually eats breakfast at daycare.

Then I spend 30 minutes cooking dinner.

How much time do you spend cooking each day?
