Not very long under the water spray, but I usually try to rub as I'm washing.</p> <p>I wash hand fruit (apples, pears, peaches, etc) and veggies in a stream of water or a colander.</p> <p>I've recently taken to washing berries in a 1-10 mixture of vinegar and water (half a cup of vinegar and 5 cups of water in a bowl) because it really does prolong the life of the berries. I have a little brush and spray veggie/fruit cleaner on it and rub it with the brush then thoroughly rinse. Leafy greens get soaked with water and the cleaner and then rinsed.
