@castilrm: thanks, yea all send and done I think an hour would cover it. I’m just not sure that much $ would be worth it to someone for the inconvenience of their afternoon! I haven’t seen any rideshare for kids around here yet but I’d definitely be open to that! I think I might see if administration will share who else lives in our town that attends, maybe I can just pay another mom to do it. Thanks!

Ps depending on where you live, your child’s age and her general independence level, you may also want to look at ride share options that service kids (often the drivers are nannies). I know a few parents who have done this, but their kids were on the older side (10 and up).

Does she need to do anything else, like walk into the school to pick up your daughter and then walk her into aftercare? Like is overall time spent about an hour? If so, I’d probably lean toward just paying whatever the hourly wage is for a solo care nanny in your area. Here, that runs $22-25 an hour. I’d probably err on the side of $25 an hour to keep in mind that she’s doing an hour of driving (to school, to aftercare, and then back home) each day and should get gas money.

My DD might be starting a new school that is not very convenient to either my or DH’s jobs or my other kids schools and daycares. I’m considering hiring someone (a babysitter we’ve used before) to just pick her up at school and drop her off at an aftercare place, but trying to figure out if that makes sense or if I should just pay her to also watch her until we get home.

So what would you pay for someone to drive about 20 minutes to get your kid and another 20 minutes to drop her off somewhere?
