From 5am-6:00am DS comes in my room and I turn on the Disney Junior app on my phone so he watches about an hour a day. We have movie night on Friday's so he watches an extra hour then.

Some days, if I'm REALLY tired or need time to veg out, I'll turn on Netflix in my room and he cuddles with me in bed. I remember watching a lot of tv when I was 3-4 (especially in the mornings). Actually, my mom would have me watch a movie home alone while she took my sisters to school by the time I was 5! I would never leave DS home alone at the age of 5! Maybe 9!

On a normal day, nothing but the news. Today, when she napped for 20(!!!!) minutes total, and wanted to nurse for hours on end, we watched half of the first season of The Big Bang Theory. Totally not awesome, but it was all I had in me. Usually we play, then she naps, we have lunch, and then go out for the afternoon. But when she misses that nap I just feel useless and exhausted.

DD has a 30 minute limit per day but we rarely reach that. Most of the time, she only watches 20 minutes a few times a week.

We have a lot of screen time with the ipad but about 30 minutes a day of tv/streaming computer. Some days is none. I'm highly in favor of educational tv! There is a time, place and limit in my book.

We've got it down to practically none for the last month or so.

DS didn't really care about tv until we moved to Hawaii (10 months old). We were stuck in a hotel for a month and a half and there wasn't much else for us to do during the day. If we turn the tv on now, he'll crawl up on the couch and stare at it with his mouth open. It's a problem. As a SAHM, I feel your pain! I always had the tv on because I needed some kind of distraction. I couldn't stand sitting with nothing on in the background. My compromise has been to play music during the day when DS is up. I watch tv during naps and when he goes to bed at night. DH complains about the no-tv rule every single day.

Honestly, it's hard and it's a personal decision! If I need a 30 minute break, I have zero hesitations about turning on an episode of the Bubble Guppies.

No TV. Just youtube videos. Some days she gets 5 mins. Other days she gets 30. Trying to slowly wean her off though!

Zero. Well maybe ten minutes every other week when I get a migraine and I try to force it on her so I can rest. But she's almost 16 months and really just not interested in tv yet so she just ends up crawling away.

@babyjmama: oh I know... I have soo much respect for them now! they are strong, amazing women. My mom always says that people say, "I could never do that" until suddenly that's the situation they're in and they find the strength to do it. My mom never thought she'd have 6 children - but when it happened, she stepped up to the plate with grace and lots of love and patience and she did a hell of a job ;) (not single - but 6 kids is a lot!)

@Coco Bee: Yeah, I hear ya. I think maybe not wanting to cook/clean is just part of being a parent! How to single mom's do it?! I often ask my friends who are single moms "Seriously. How. Did. You. Do. ANYTHING?!" If I have to pee? J goes to DH. Not feeling great? Over to DH. Need to fold laundry? Over to DH.

@babyjmama: yes and no! I still have a hard time cooking and cleaning - it's just so much work being with him and playing with him all day so when he naps or goes to bed the last thing I want to do is cook or clean. I usually do most of the cleaning on the weekend while DH is home to help.

My older daughter didn't see TV really at all until she was 2-I was SO paranoid about it. But, I was at work from the time she was 1 until she was 2.5, so it was easier for me. Now she is 3 and she watches about 20-30 mins a day. I know, I know, bad, but like others have said--it is hard to be a SAHM!!!

I grew up watching television all day long, and I turned out just fine. :) My parents were busy working, and they would let me watch Chinese dramas. I learned how to speak Chinese and English by watching television... now I'm not so sure about my parent's parenting skills.

I'm a SAHM with an 18 months old, and I try to limit him to 45 minutes a day. He only watches PBS. I do worry about people judging me for letting him have screen time, but it is tough being at home with a toddler. I do believe that my LO catches on to what is going on in his shows and will eventually learn some good things out of it.

@Coco Bee: Yeah, I really do have to admit, the days I'm lucky enough to be home all day, I. Am. EXHAUSTED! Entertaining him all day is so hard! Working full time is hard, but SAHM's have a lot to accomplish too. I just think it's easier to stay caught up on household stuff if you're a SAHM, but you're still crazy busy!!

@babyjmama: Oh I totally get it. If I was working FT I wouldn't have a need for TV either! But just like I'd get sick of being with DH 24/7, as much as I love LO, it's hard being with him ALL the time!!

Ha, my LO is only 11 weeks old and she probably watches more TV than she should. I mean, she shouldn't be watching any but she loves Baby Einstein. It's also hard to find things for her to do all day...owell she will survive ;)

@Coco Bee: I can't judge! :) I know my mom has cartoons on when she needs to get some things done during the day (pretty sure he just watches the colors, but hey it keeps him entertained!) I only have a few hours w/him everyday so he doesn't in the evenings but I like to entertain him. Call it full-time working mama guilt!
