@Locavore_mama @Irene- thanks; he's just over 7 months and we have such rough nights already - last night he woke 6 times. I'm exhausted and dreading any change in routine, but I guess it can't get much worse!

I'll stick to his routine and end it with the carseat. He's taken naps in the car before, so maybe it will be ok.

How old is your baby?

Don't feel afraid, babies are not endangered species -- I am sure he will be fine sleeping one night in the car seat. He may end up sleep better anyway with the car engine running and all! I voted for putting him to the carseat at the end of the bedtime routine as if he's going to sleep. He will be fine.

I don't think it will mess up him much as long as you stick to your routine when you get there. Regardless of how you mess it up, it usually takes about 4-5 days to get back to where you were. We traveled to Australia from US when LO was 5.5 months and it took us about 4-5 days each to adjust to their timezone and to adjust to the timezone at home.

I would do all the bedtime routine then put in car seat awake.

My LO has no issues sleeping in the car and we always leave for road trips around nap or bed time. Travel also thankfully doesn't mess with her sleep either. Even though we usually stay up later than usual. I guess it's the one saving grace in her sleep!

Sorry this is long - I need advice.

My husband's family live about 4.5 hours away. He wants to drive down this Friday after work and stay the weekend. My son is 7 months and goes to bed around 6:45pm in his crib, wakes at least 4 times at night (the first as early as 9); I usually feed him 3 times at night; trying to get it down to 2. I'm still sleep training for wake-ups because he seems to heavily rely on nursing to soothe back to sleep, even though I put him back awake in the crib.

Our bedtime routine is nurse, bath, diaper, book, crib. Nursing is separated from crib by about 30 minutes.

How badly will sleeping in the carseat at night until we get there (he'll have a crib) mess us up? He always sleeps in the crib at night. Should we wait until he's asleep to leave, or do bedtime routine, then put him in the carseat and go, hoping that he will fall asleep? Or skip bath and leave after his last feeding? I'm a stickler with bedtime - and hate this idea of going, especially with daylights savings lurking. I thought pushing bedtime back ~15 minutes a night for 4 days before would be good, but now with this trip I don't think it will work. Please help. I'm really afraid of this trip. We haven't discussed the ride home yet, but it will probably be during the day.
