I pay a sitter hourly 10-12 or so an hour. In that case, I would def settle a daily rate of at least 100...possibly more like 150/day and then make sure they have money or all the food they would need etc. extra to cover that.

We paid $45 the last time our son did a overnight at our backup sitter's house. I considered it a great deal, but also know that it's not the norm. I would have no problem paying $100 or more for overnight if that was the price.

Our sitter (also a DCP teacher) charges $200 flat rate for 24 hrs for 2 kids

Since they will only be home for 1 full day and the rest in DCP I would offer her $600 for 5 days. Hopefully she will be honest and tell you if that's reasonable for her.

I'd pay them a rate for nights/evenings and then extra for the day(s) they'd have them at home. They'll be at your house right? And you'll have food and everything set for them? I think $100/night is ok if you give them a good tip at the end and maybe a gift from your trip :)

We have hired our fave daycare teacher a few times for overnights. She has prob 15 years childcare exp and is amazing - the best teacher by far.

We pay $100 per night and that covers 24 hours. We give her more if she is planning to take DD out to a meal of course.

For comp purposes - we are in metro Detroit, sitters here are $10-15/hr.

I do think agreeing on a flat rate per day is the way to go. But the amount probably depends on how much nannies usually charge in your area. I think where we live (Boston area) it would be much more then $100/day.

We booked a kid-less trip for just DH and I in about a month. My mom and/or sister were going to watch the girls for us during that time, but after we booked it, some things came up and they can no longer watch them.

I'm thinking of finding someone (most likely one of their daycare teachers) to watch them while we are out. We would be gone for 5 days/4 nights. One of the days would be a work-holiday, but the they would be in daycare for the other days. They would be responsible for taking them to/from daycare and watching them overnight.

How much would you pay for something like that? $100/day?? Less? More?
