Comfy for baby, and easy to decontaminate when necessary. After she started sleeping in a playyard bassinet, we used the flip-up changing table attachment for that. For some reason, it just calms her down, even if she's screaming up a storm. I built ours for around $15, but you can pick up some at a resale/consignment shop or via craigslist for that cheap too. I like it because the open shelves make grabbing supplies and changing her a snap. You could just have a changing station set up anywhere in your home and have the same effect. We have the PnP set up in our living room, which is where we camped out the first month she was home with us. My knees hurt SO much, it's hard for me to get up from a sitting position. It's super convenient, and I don't have to worry about getting poop and pee all over the place if my son wiggles around while changing him. I prefer having everything in one place and leaving it there. The dresser we bought was too tall or else we would have just used that. Instead, we bought this $20 desk from Ikea and secured the changing pad to it. Sure you can do it on the floor but I personally wouldn't want to be bent over all the time changing diapers.
