@Mrs.Ham: With my first LO, I had horrible cramping until about 8 weeks. They felt like moderate period cramps on and off throughout the day but at least once, sometimes up to three times per day, I would have a ten minute episode of excruciating pain. Pain to the point where I would be doubled over and having to breathe through them. They honestly felt like contractions. Drinking loads and loads of water helped.

By 8 weeks, they were tapering off and I no longer had the severe episodes, thank goodness! All was fine with my LO and I was told cramping, even severe episodes like mine, are all normal.

On the plus side, with this pregnancy, I have not had any cramping so maybe once your uterus finally starts stretching, it never needs to go through this again! Hope they ease up for you soon!

Totally normal...I asked my RE office about this and they said to make sure I was drinking a lot of water and once I started doing that they went away!

I think this is totally normal. I had cramps until 8 or so weeks ... As long as there's no bleeding, you're just fine!! Those little babies grow so quickly, and our hormones are prepping our bodies for that growth.

@Mrs.Ham: I had bad cramping around that same time and I called my dr. Because I was freaked. What I found out was that it's normal and that it's probably ....The follicle you ovulated from and produced the egg can develop a corpus luteum. Good luck

@Mrs.Ham: I had pretty terrible cramps until about 8 weeks. sometimes they hurt pretty bad and sometimes it would be dull. My doctor said it was totaly fine unless you have bleeding or spotting. If that starts or the pain becomes unbareable then call the doctor but otherwise I think its normal. Think of all the growing and stretching going on in there right now!

@Mrs.Ham: this is how I was...I was SURE that my period was going to start any second. I was told that it's your uterus stretching, and totally normal!

That being said, even though you don't go to your doctor for a few more weeks, don't be afraid to call. It can be really scary, and I freaked out a lot. Sometimes, even a phone call to the nurse really reassured me. I felt like a burden, but they always say that they are there to help!

@MamaMoose: Yes! That's exactly how I feel! I keep waiting for it to start...thankfully it hasn't! I have pretty painful period cramps, so I guess what I'm feeling is normal - but still disconcerting!

Totally normal - I had period cramps until probably 8 weeks. They felt so "real" that I kept expecting my period to arrive at any moment. I even had a bit of spotting but it turned out to be nothing.

I had a lot of cramping early on - it totally freaked me out! I went in at 6/7 weeks due to the cramps+spotting -- and was fine... You may want to go in or call if worried... Make sure you are drinking lots of water! That helped and then after 8/9 weeks the cramping went away

I had a few days with some cramps early on. No bleeding for me either. My doctor told me that mild cramps are normal as your uterus expands. Moderate cramps are somewhat normal. Severe cramps are not normal and should be reported right away, as should any bleeding at all.

I am just about 5.5 weeks, and have been having period-like cramps off and on every day for the last 3 weeks. Should I be concerned? At times they are rather sharp and painful, other times just a dull ache. No spotting or bleeding. I don't go to the doctor until I'm 7 weeks. Anyone else experience this? Any advice?
