Very normal!! I felt engirged all the time until around 6 wks. Then I kinda realized hey my boobs are soft! For the first time in 2 months! Your supply will regulate sometime around 6-10 wks and you will feel much more comfortable! I also agree with advice to not pump, or at least don't pump to empty your breast as this signal you to make more milk.

Breastfeeding is all about supply and demand and at this stage your body and baby are still working out what they need.

Wanting to be constantly on the boob is pretty normal at this age, newborns only have tiny wee stomachs and breast milk digests pretty quick, hence the need to feed frequently. Frequent feeding is great for establishing supply which is what LO is trying to do.

At this stage I would continue to feed on demand so that your wee one is controlling your supply and I would recommend avoiding pumping if it's not necessary so that you don't end up with oversupply issues.

If you'd like more info on breastfeeding a newborn then I'd totally recommend checking out the message boards on the La Leche International website, heaps of good information!

Keep up the good work, sounds like you're doing a great job!

I would let her eat when she wants but cut out the pumping ( unless you absolutely need to build a stash) I had oversupply and didn't know it (and thought that was just how it was supposed to feel) and pumping made it waaaaaaaay worse. Try to grin and bear the engorgement and try to let your body naturally regulate itself.

She doesn't have a feeding schedule or pattern at all. Some days she is on the boob every hour and other days she goes 4 hours before I wake her up to eat. I feel like I get full any time she goes more than an hour or two without eating. I don't want to force her to eat every two hours /: will it slow down eventually? Should I not let her eat every hour on those days she wants to be stuck to the boob? :/ I don't want to starve her or risk over feeding her /:

I don't remember what my supply was like at 1 month, but keep in mind, your body will keep producing as long as you keep stimulating your breasts. Whether your LO is eating or you are pumping, the supply will continue to be there. If you cut back on the pumping (or the eating), your supply will decrease since the demand is lower.

How often is she eating? I don't feel really full until maybe 4 hrs? My LO nurses every 3-4.

Sophie is only a month old and I hear that my body is still learning how much to produce, but I feel like I fill up pretty often. Anyone else? I practically have to beg Soph to eat so I can empty them out, or I pump and store it. Is this normal? Should I be waking her up more often to eat?
