With 2 FT WOH parents with demanding jobs, no family help and a two-nager (it's a thing), about 90% of the time. When work is more like 40 hours a week, it's definitely easier to survive.

Pretty infrequently with my almost 2 year old. I credit this to working outside the home, and I'm a teacher so we are home early and my husband has the same hours as me. Lately it seems like he's actually doing more than me at home too which is a miracle that I'm not going to feel guilty about! I'm sure that tide will turn soon bc TTC this spring.

If I was a stay at home mom I think I'd be in survival mode about 95% of the time. :silly:

2 year old DD. I'm almost never with her - she's an only child and is a fairly easy toddler. I am quite frequently with work though, and that can spill into home life.

Almost always these days. I have a 2 month old and a 3 year old. I think things will improve when the baby sleeps through the night. That may be awhile though.

@Mama Bird: I found since being a working mom that leaving work at work has helped a lot. If it needs to be addressed, I'll look at it before the kids are up or after they go to sleep.

Surprisingly, it's better now. Mostly because I've learned to let go of work stress. I used to bust myself to pieces trying to make impossible deadlines. I still do, but in the back of my mind is the thought that if stuff happens at home and I can't make the deadline, I'll apologize and do better next time.

@babypugs: Hugs. Those first few weeks of two kids about the same age is tough. Mine are now 4.5 years old and 20 months old. It's a different crazy circus than the first few months.

As for survival mode, I would say when the kids are sick at home or after 10 hours solo with one kid. I solo every Friday with our youngest for speech therapy. By the end of the day, we're tired and antsy because of the weather. Tomorrow will be nice, so I might take him out in the stroller for a bit in our longest stretch.

Most of the time- maybe 80%? I have a relatively easy 1 year old, but she doesn't consistently sleep through the night and gets super super cranky when she is teething. And a very difficult 3.5 year old who seems to be intent on making me a complete insane person. I don't see when it's going to get easier. And DH works fairly long hours so I do most of it alone. I hate wishing time away but this is not a great phase.

Daily, for a year, since A was born. She is a handful and demands a lot of attention, but we try really hard not to neglect D or let the TV babysit him. We're doing a lot of man-to-man defense right now, and that's hard.

I don't think we ever really feel this way. We only have one kid, 22 months. Things definitely get harder when she's sick or tired at the end of a day at daycare and it's super rainy out or whatever, but things are still reasonably manageable. I think some kids are just harder than others. - I had a coworker come into my office recently to tell me (in a "hey there's a light at the end of the tunnel" kind of way) that she just had her first afternoon ever of feeling like she had things under control. Her only kid is about to turn 4. Impressive!

As a parent. how often do you feel like you are in survival mode?

I actually don't feel this way too often these days, my girls are almost 3 and 4.5 but I did feel this way more when they were younger. Also, when any of us are sick it's automatic survival mode for sure and almost anything goes at that point.
