Everyone around me seems to have their babies sleeping through the night! This has been going on since 4 months (she previously was waking once.) it's definitely a combo of teething, growth spurts/wonder weeks, learning to crawl, etc. she has good weeks and bad weeks. After we sleep trained (Ferber), she still woke but only to eat and then she'd go right back to sleep. At 3.5 months she started waking up more. She has good nights (2 wakeups) and a lot more bad nights where she will wake up 3, 4, 5 times. She is 4 months right now, so it's been going on a couple of weeks. She takes a paci but doesn't want it when she wakes up crying. So I just feed her to get her to go back to sleep. It's the easiest way so that's why I do it...I don't want to encourage her though. Maybe this weekend I will try putting her back to sleep another way and waiting until her "normal" wakeup times to feed her. I nursed during those wake ups and she went right back to sleep. She was up preeeetty much hourly (co-sleeping). Her sleep started to go to shit around 3.5 months, progressively got worse, and at 6 months I sleep trained/crib transitioned. BUT we had a couple mini-regressions just after 4 months where she basically didn't sleep at all for two nights in a row (this happened twice, about a week apart). I kept a log and looked it up. Around 4 months, it was 5-7 times a night, by 5 months it was 4-5. DS slept 5-6 hours then up every 2-3 the rest of the night...until he was 3.5 months. Then he was awake every 1-2 hours! And had to be bouced or nursed to sleep. We had a minimum of 4 night wakeups during that time period! I just fed him and he went right back to sleep each time. I figured it was a growth spurt and he was hungry, so I didn't worry about offering something other than food. We had 1-2 wakeups, and even some nights of essentially STTN, from about 8 weeks until 3.5 months. Then, it was every 2-3 hours. Sometimes more often than that. We sleep trained and got down to 2-3 wakeups instead of 5+ at 4.5 months. I would say she was a *very* good nighttime sleeper though. She was still waking up in the night, but I would offer her a pacifier and she would go back to sleep. I always offered a pacifier when she woke up from a very early age. I think that helped her to have a non-food sleep association, but I don't think it's the only reason that she was such a good sleeper.
