@sorrycharlie: same on the letdown and the night nursing. He's been refusing bottles at daycare now that I'm home with him more to nurse (drinking, like 2oz a day), so his night nursing is through the roof on daycare days. I took him to the pediatrician and he's still growing. She said 6 wet diapers a day and don't worry about the rest. I love my pediatrician!

oh good! she also nurses 1-2x a night (last night more, sigh). she has hovered around the same weight for the last couple months but has gotten longer. I was afraid maybe I wasn't nursing her enough..

@mewtill: same! I only feel a strong letdown when it's been awhile. I mean, I am sure my supply had adjusted, but she just fools around unless it's been at least 3/3.5 hours!

Wow this thread is making me feel great! My son is 9 months and I've been worried because he doesn't want to nurse very often, but "often" to me has been every 3 hours. Maybe that's why he's so distracted during nursing, he's not that hungry!! :)

Miss A is 8.5 months and has only just started to space out her feedings, yesterday she only nursed five times which is a record for her (she normally nurses anywhere from six-ten times a day).

Here's a rough idea of her schedule:

0730 wakeup and nurse
0830 a small amount of porridge for breakfast
1030 nurse to sleep for nap
1230 awake
1300 lunch (finger food - A is not keen on purée!)
1530 nurse to sleep for nap
1630 awake
1645 small snack (usually a cracker and fruit)
1800 dinner (whatever we're eating)
1900 bath
1930 bedtime and nurse to sleep

We still do one or two night wakings and I'll nurse Miss A more often if she's cranky or extra hungry. Our schedule is definitely flexible and we've just sort of fallen into our routine over the last few weeks when she started to stop the lunchtime feed.

LO nurses every 2-3 hours during the day, and usually once overnight...I find he nurses best if I nurse him right before a nap.

On the weekends, A nurses about every 3 hours. I do notice if he goes longer, he tends to nurse longer and seems less distracted.

I don't know if I need to nurse more or not...DS is sort of losing interest. Some sessions are good but some aren't. Almost 10 months--nurses 7am/bottle @ daycare of pumped milk at 1/occasional afternoon nurse/bedtime nurse and most nights a 3am nurse.

I try to nurse O (9 months) around every 3 hours, but she can definitely go up to 4.5 or so. I usually nurse, after a little bit offer her next meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner) then nurse a little afterward.

wondering if I should be going longer between sessions? or if that's too long?
