He did not enjoy his first bath, but I think it was because he was cold/uncomfortable. Once I set up a better system (use bathwater a wee bit hotter than recommended since it cools so darn fast, keep a small space heater blowing on him, warm his onesie on said space heater while toweling him off, and keep his torso covered in a hand towel while in the tub, etc.) he really enjoys it now. I don't always soap up his body, but always use a soapy wash cloth for his bum and usually use a little soap on his hair since he gets dribble or spit up in it at some point. He didn't like like being lotioned at first, but then we figured out that he loves it if you do it while he's on his tummy. I guess it feels like a massage. He goes totally limp when I do that. Then he gets a warm onesie and a hat and then we wrap him up in a blanket and snuggle him for a while to warm him up and he's pretty happy. We would wipe him down with a damp cloth before bed on the other nights. Now that he's eating watermelon and running around in muddy fields we bathe him every night. Luckily his skin is a lot less sensitive now. It is definitely not part of our nighttime routine. I'd say she has on average two baths a week and she loves them. She does get wiped down with a warm washcloth after meals (she just eats in her dipe) but I don't find she is ever that dirty. I've always had insanely dry skin so I'm trying to avoid that with her. I'd say 4-5 times a week. Infant: once or twice a week. He's only 7weeks old. On her nonbath nights she still gets a wipe down, lotion, sleeper, bottle, and then swaddle. Shes started to really love it so we are considering everyday, but if yours isn't a fan I don't think more than 2-3x a week is all that necessary. Now that he's a toddler we still don't bathe every day, but we do give him a bath as soon as he's home from preschool (which is 3 times a week) to get the germs off. I'm currently just using water, but sometimes I think I need a bit more cleaning power than that.
