I usually buy nice shoes that I expect to last several years. I also don't really buy trendy shoes, so they don't go out of style. I buy shoes as I need them, rarely on a whim. I bought new sneakers this spring because my previous pair was 4 yo and falling apart. I bought new sandals too so I could have another color. Since I bought new boots last fall, I don't foresee needing any more new shoes for more than a year. Post kids - barely. My feet grow with each pregnancy. I probably grew out of 25+ pairs of shoes. I'm waiting until I'm done having babies to replenish. Since I live in casual shoes I don't need new shoes that often (flip flops/sandals/sneakers last forever), but I usually buy at least a new boot and sandal each year.
