We did ours in October, so DS was only 10 months, but close enough I guess. I do whatever feels right and so far it's been mostly milestones. Maternity 2012, new born with DD 2012, 1 year shoot with DD 2013, shoot with my side of the family 2014, new born with DS and family shoot 2015. We have a shoot with my DH side of the family this summer and I want to do a little something for DS 1 year. I'm thinking if I can't come up with an excuse to have photos each year I'll at least find a mini session somewhere. Good luck! From here on out I would like to try to do a mini session in the fall most years if we can. @Ash: I don't think you need to tie it to a birthday, unless you wanted to do a special first bday one. I would do it when it works best for you regardless of bday-like if you want summery beach photos do summer. Personally I love fall photos and the timing is good for Christmas cards so I'm going to try for that this year. I had JUST stopped BFing cold turkey the day before in our 9 month family pics and I was bloated and puffy as all get out in the pictures. They turned out so awful (of me). I’m thinking back on ours we did LO#1s newborn (hospital photographer), 3-6-9-1year (JCPenny studio), 2.5 years (real - professional), all of LO#2s above newborn-1 years (JCPenny)… I’m thinking of doing a real professional again when LO#2 is 2.5 years also which will make LO#1 about 5.5 years.
