I bake all my own treats and I use only honey or pure maple syrup as sweeteners, I don't use refined sugar at all. He can have some of my treats when he's older, but not very often. I also have a problem with how spoiled kids can come off when they're allowed candy every day. One day when they came over, we were out, and she was sooooo disappointed. She told me I needed to go shopping and buy more, haha. She apparently associates our house with m&ms now because when her mom (my best friend) tells her she's visiting us, she's like "Oh! Can I have an m&m?" I used to explain that I don't want him eating candy at all but now I just flat out say no. But she asks every single time. @Andrea: my son knows the word lollipop too. But after reading an article in the NYT about how sugar can cause toddler tooth rot, we decided to stop bringing him to the deli. (Well also, I didn't like how spoiled Charlie seemed when he begged for candy.) Charlie still asks to see Abdul all the time though! Sorry kiddo... your teeth are more important than sugary bliss! We recently started teaching Charlie the days of the week though, so we have been telling him that on "Friday" he can see Abdul. Now he asks me if it's Friday all the time! Well today is Friday, so I can't wait to pick up Charlie from daycare today! How often do you get candy for your LO?
