@lilyofthewest: Unfortunately AF showed up on Saturday :( I'm going to talk to my RE about more monitoring this cycle so that my timing is a bit better. I'm hoping IUI #2 is more successful.

@winter_wonder: I think that if you've normally gotten two days of positives, then you most likely DIDN'T ovulate that first day and the IUI timing should still be good! Fingers crossed!!! <3 :goodluck:

@winter_wonder: Sometimes it's CM but entering your OPKs in the data and not the notes field might help.

@LindsayInNY: Thanks! I double checked to make sure it was on the advanced setting. I need to be more consistent with entering CM.

I think the dotted versus solid crosshairs is because you aren't entering consistent data. If you're only entering temps and not OPKs, that could be doing it.

From the FF website:
The Advanced Detector is our recommended detector and the default for all charts. We recommend that you keep your chart on this setting. This detector takes all your fertility signs into account. It uses the computing power of our servers to actually scan for patterns of ovulation on your charts based on the many patterns that we have encountered through our years of experience. Once it has determined your most likely ovulation day based on all your fertility signs, it then determines a coverline (the horizontal line across your chart) with a reasonable value to show you your biphasic (ovulation) pattern. Our advanced detector simultaneously takes into account all signs and data you enter to determine the best interpretation.

@pawprints: I tend to get more dashed cross hairs. Maybe it's because I'm not consistent with charting CM?

@lilyofthewest: I can't quite remember CM (kicking myself that I didn't keep better track of this). But, when I play with it and put eggwhite for wed-sat nothing changes. If I take out all CM info then it puts it back at the dashed line (but still indicating O on Thursday).

In terms of cover line it seems like I'm a bit all over the place:
May/June: 97.0
April: 97.4
March: 97.2
Jan: 97.0
Dec: 97.2

@Adira: Thank you! I'm kicking myself that I didn't do an opk on Friday morning (before the IUI). But, I was like "no need to waste another test." Ugh!!!!!!! In the past I've gotten two days of positives. So I"m really, really, really hoping that I didn't O until Saturday.

@snowjewelz: Thanks for saying that. It makes me feel better. I hope the timing was ok for the IUI!!!

@lazb: I agree! It's frustrating!

@winter_wonder: Your timing can still be good! It looks like they chose + date as O date since you had the lowest temp and it had steadily gone up. I wouldn't rely 100% on the chart esp since our information is not always complete/accurate, so you def still have a chance. :goodluck: !

@winter_wonder: Do you know how long your surge usually lasts? Did you continue to test with OPKs beyond that first positive? Looking at temps alone, I would think the Saturday O date was more likely, but it's definitely hard to judge without more CM details or more OPK details. When I used OPKs, I didn't ovulate until two days after the positive. But I think it'll become more clear when you actually ovulated as you continue to temp and see which coverline actually makes sense for you.

Fingers crossed that your IUI timing was good! <3

Ugh, how stressful! I'm sorry!

From your temps and your OPKs, I'd say Thurs and Saturday seem equally likely. It leans toward Thursday though when you consider you last patch of fertile mucus was Wednesday. Did you not have any CM on Thurs, Fri, Sat? What happens to your crosshairs if you play with that?

I've gotten solid crosshairs every month since I started charting 9 cycles ago! It seems weird that FF would give dashed crosshairs when you have a clear shift in that first chart.

@snowjewelz: So, I'm attaching two pics of my chart.

1) the first one is my chart before I entered any opk tests (I usually just type my findings in the "notes" section). You can see the dashed lines.

2) then I added the positive opk on Thursday in the actual "testing" section. But, it's showing that I O'd on Thursday. This would be HORRIBLE timing since my IUI was Friday..........ugh :(

I can't even schedule my IUI until I see a positive on opks and the first positive was Thursday.

Thanks for your feedback @adira and @mrsmcd

I always only get dashes lines on FF. But I only use OPKs. And I don't often enter CM. So I think that's the issue. FF looks for things like temps to confirm O because a temp is conceivably the only thing that could come close to confirming O.

I feel like I RARELY got solid cross-hairs on my charts. It seemed like everything has to line up perfectly (temps, CM, OPKs, etc) for them to be solid. Otherwise they were dashed!

Do you have a link to your chart? Even if you get a + OPK, I think they wait like 3 days to confirm O based on your temp rise after +. And if the other data is not consistent/conclusive I think they dash it just to play it safe.

How often do you get the solid line cross-hairs versus the estimated (dashed cross-hairs) on FF?

I'm pretty sure that I ovulated (based on opk) but it still frustrates me that I'm not getting that solid line each month. I almost always get the dashed lines. Ugh.....

Maybe I'm reading too much into this because I'm currently in the TWW from my IUI this month.
