I'm a cheap ass and got sick of paying someone $20 for a 5 minute ordeal, so I use a clippers myself (and it looks pretty great, if I do say so myself!) He goes with DH to the barber. We attempted to cut it once at home but it was obviously not as nice looking (the sides/fade). Gonna have to practice since I am having another boy and see lots of barbering needs in my future. MIL cut DH's and BIL's hair thru high school pretty regularly! DD got hers cut once at age 2 (bangs and evened out the length) but we haven't cut it again since. So far that has meant once a year. I realized pretty early on that bangs are a very bad idea because you have to either be good at doing them yourself or take them to the hair place every few weeks.
