I missed this year's appointment since I haven't looked for a dermatologist in our new city yet. I had melanoma while pregnant, so I'll be seeing him every 3 months for 5 years. Then every 6 months for life. My melanoma just looked like a freckle. They turned out to be nothing, but I feel better going to a derm now and then. I joke that it's my "monkey" checkup since the derm looks through my long, thick hair the way monkey clean each other. I've had 4 suspicious moles removed thus far. Like @ms.janedoe: I also regret tanning back in the day. I've embraced my Casper the friendly ghost skin and slather on sunblock on my face, arms, neck, chest, and back every day. I'd rather people assume I'm ill due to my paleness than tangle with cancer again. I used to go pretty regularly to get prescription face wash, but now I use Cetaphik and get the same results. If I notice anything weird in between, I'm supposed to go right away, but since they've never seen anything that's cause for concern (knock on wood) I don't need to go more often than that.
