I try to make it a point to see my nieces at least 2 times a month. We all live within 30 minutes of each other, so it is easy for us to get together on a weekend day to spend time together! DH's family, unfortunately, we only see a few times a year since they live a plane ride (or 12 hour drive) away. On average we see them all about once a week, some weeks we are lucky to see them more and other times it can be a few weeks. All the siblings have children so we all make an effort so the kids get to spend time together. We flew his mom here five months ago so we could spend some time with her and since she's never been to Japan. My mom comes to visit about twice a year. My sister came once this year. We never hang out with husband's brothers though, even when we go back to the states for a visit. Both of our families are spread out all over so its hard to visit everyone while we're there. They live 2.5hrs away. We haven't seen my inlaws and one of dh's sisters since our wedding in October 2010. His parents live in Florida and don't travel often. We don't really talk to his sister. All of our brothers, sisters and parents are either one hour west or one hour East of us. We hang out with them maybe once a month at most. The rest of his fam live out of state. So maybe we see them 3 times a year. My fam is in CA. :( We see them.. 3-4x a year. It kills me that traveling with LO is such a pain.
