They don't have kids so it is easy for them to come to our house. We very rarely get babysitters unless it is for a wedding or other special occassion. About once a month or two months each of us gets a night by ourselves. We became friends with our neighbors so we are able to go over there while LO is sleeping. We just bring the monitor...eeek! We would go for coffee, of chill at a friends house. Now after baby, my friends come to me (if they want to see my son) if not, maybe once every 3 months? I would like to make it more often, but sometimes our schedules just don't match. I met one for coffee maybe 3 months ago, and another came to our house a while back. Other than that, it's mostly just hanging out with family. I find that now it's so hard to hang out with people that don't have kids, or are at least nowhere near having kids. It's nothing against them, but they don't seem to understand that time for outings are limited, especially since I BF. We were on the breastfeeding schedule. I was constantly tired and fatigued. It was also emotionally hard to be away from DD too. I had separation anxiety. Now that she's almost 9 mths, I'm pretty much back to a social life that I'm happy with. I actually go on a date night with DH at least once a week. It's usually just an early dinner now. But it's just him and I. I love food and new restaurants, so we go out and try new places. I find it quite hard to go out at night although we do get out at least 2x a month for a party or something. My in-laws are fabulous about spending the night at our house to watch my LO while we go out. We have people over on weekends in the afternoons when she is awake and ready to play, otherwise the evenings are reserved for me and the hubs to catch up on favourite shows/movies. We'll go to dinner with friends every once in a while. We like to go out to dinner anyway because I love getting out of the house, and we're getting pretty good at handling the baby and dog at dinner (he has seperation anxiety so we don't like leaving him). But I haven't done anything without my baby with friends since she was born. Husband's friends come over all the time to play video games, eat, etc. :P Hubs' friends are all single and don't have kids. I don't feel comfortable leaving my LO with a sitter (i have trust issues) and we don't have family close by so it's tough getting out. It works out well though since we're both homebodies. :) I know couples who go out all the time and have no problem leaving their kids with sitters. Since baby, (she's 4 months old) I've gone out just once and that was just to a friend's house to hang out. I haven't actually gone out-out. But now that LO goes to bed at 6-6:30 and doens't need a feeding until midnight, I'm hoping to get out more - but we'll see. I see my best friend once a week (Friday nights), and my brother, who I consider a friend, also once a week (Saturdays). Then I see one of my other friends every 3 weeks (for pedis) and another one about once or twice a month. I try to see my gfs at least a few times a month for girl time. Whether it's a mani/pedi, dinner, or movie date. DH does the same with his boys for happy hour/football games/etc. Together, we also try to hang out with friends a handful of times during the month. Sometimes it's more often than others and it's been hard with the holidays, but we make it happen as often as we can! We've had lots of friends come over to visit, but it's hard to go out in the early months if you're breastfeeding and/or pumping. Anyway typically hanging out with my friends means dinner, a movie, or a concert (I go to as many as I can). Pre Charlie Mr. Bee and I went out to dinner and the movies very often... a couple times a week and I'd see my friends once a week. Post Charlie and pre Olive I went out around 3 times a month with friends while Mr. Bee stayed home with Charlie (after he went to sleep). Post Charlie and Olive remains to be seen, but I hope I can go out at least 2-3 times a month with Mr. Bee and my friends! It just gets complicated and expensive when you throw babysitters into the mix, whereas it was easy for us to socialize (albeit separately) when we just had Charlie. How often do you hang out with your friends pre/post baby?
