Once a week I do the floors and dust (we have laminate and throw rugs so I vacuum everything and use the crevice tool and then use Bona spray every other week, or more frequently if we have guests), but there is already plenty of hair and dust everywhere from the dog and cat just a day or two after doing it. Also once a week for the toilets and stainless steel appliances (I should do them more frequently). I spray the kitchen counters after every time we cook, and then do a "remove everything and spray the ENTIRE counters" every other week. We have far too many clothes, so I can get away with laundry every other week but I have no illusions that will stay the case once bebe is here. I hate cleaning so much and would rather live with it during the week, when I'm rarely home, then spend a couple of hours every Sunday doing it. ETA: We try to straighten up every day and run the dishwasher roughly every other day, and not leave things in the sink overnight. We have 3 kids soon to be 4 so I'm cleaning all day pretty much every day. I "deep" clean each room on a schedule though. Monday is kitchen day, Tuesday Bathrooms (we have 3), Wednesdays all bedrooms (sheets, blankets, etc.), Thursdays living rooms (we have 2), Friday walkway and laundry room. On all days I straighten everything up, vacuum, clean anything that is dirty, and do a minimum 2 loads of laundry. I also find myself doing dishes at least 3-4 times daily. On a weekly basis, my husband does the laundry, cleans the bathrooms (scrubs toilet and bathtub), and washes all of our linens. In terms of a detailed thorough cleaning, we'll do that like once a month. This is where we clean out the fridge, disinfect everything, clean the blinds/curtains, etc. I hate this one the most! Then once every 2 weeks I do the down and dirty stuff, tubs/showers, scrub floors on hands & knees instead of using the Shark. My house gets DISGUSTING. DH and my BIL are both really tidy (make the bed, pick up after themselves), which is awesome. But, boys are boys. And they are gross (ex. TMI alert: our toilets need cleaning constantly). DH loves doing yard work and is always tracking mud and grass into the house. My dog does the same. I'm not a naturally tidy person at all. So, the combination of my un-tidiness and their messiness from doing outdoor housework all the time means my house gets gross, regularly. Dishes need to be done daily, laundry and top to bottom light house cleaning happens weekly. Deep cleaning happens never, unless I bring in a professional. Right now with my energy being down and PG I might have her come once a week. We do animal Rescue so we have a lot of our own pets plus fosters. So Vacuum and floors are done daily. I do Wagon Jr.'s laundry once a week (Sunday nights), our laundry about once every two weeks, linen laundry about once a month, dog laundry about once every two months. We have a cleaning service once a month for the floors, kitchen, bathrooms, and all that. We just had our last service though. My mom's coming this Saturday and I'm hoping between me and her we'll be able to keep up! I can sit in PJs if I want. Also DH gets his work clothes dry cleaned, so I don't have to worry about those. So we stay really busy... just spent about two hours vacuuming and using the steam mop (we don't have rugs, just hardwood floors). For a while we were able to clean the apartment when Charlie was waking up early in the morning, but lately he's been sleeping later and waking up later... so that hasn't been working recently. I'm hoping that we can shift him to an earlier schedule again soon, so we can start cleaning together! We really need to throw away about 60% of everything we own. Even still though, we need to clean the apartment way more than I would like. How does it get so messy? Let me know if you guys have figured that one out.
