I call that a marketing ploy to make you buy more pacis! As long as they aren't cracked or deformed, and you clean them regularly, why would you need to replace them so quickly? I checked for any cracks but they held up the entire year that DD used a paci. We did have a lot of them so maybe they didn't get worn out.
