Sometimes longer. You know it's right when you can just wipe down the microwave with minimal effort. You just fill up a small/medium bowl of white vinegar, set it on the top rack, and run a regular cycle. I really need to do it more often. I think it's because I wipe it down after something gets it dirty, so it's kept up (for the most part). The vinegar steams everything right off! I am bad about covering food with a paper towel every time, but my husband isn't so I feel obligated to keep it clean since I mess it up :) ETA: Looks like I'm not the only one! A tip I learned is to fill a glass bowl with water then add a few drops of liquid dish soap and nuke it for about 5 minutes. The soap is a degreaser and makes it so easy to wipe down when it's done. Lately we've been doing it once a week, at the same time we scrub down the stove. That's a lot more frequent than our previous schedule! Which was, whenever we opened the microwave and noticed something yucky. (Or at least, that was my system; I'm sure Mrs. Bee had a more systematic approach I was totally unaware of.)
