Once in awhile I'll email her a link or photo but not usually to talk. We live 5 minutes away too so it's easier to see each other as well. So, we communicate mostly be email at least two-three times a week. We try and speak by phone at least once a week. My parents are in the middle of the Australian outback right now so I won't speak to them until after Thanksgiving most likely when they're back in Brisbane. Then my mom and I usually do something (shopping) once every couple weeks, and we talk on the phone probably 5 out of 7 days on a normal week. They only live 10 minutes away so even before the baby we saw them at least once a week, if not more. Now my mom will be here 3-4 times a week. My mom is about a 4-hour drive away (she used to live about 18 hours away) and we only speak, email, or facebook about once every other week. It starts around 6:45am when I start my 45 minute drive to work. Then, we'll text a couple times throughout the day or call if we can. Then, we talk when we both get off around 3. I work in the town where I grew up and my parents still live so I stop over there 2-3 times a week even if it's only to get something to drink for my drive home. Then, on the weekends we'll usually shop together, grab lunch or dinner, or do some baking. We've always been pretty close like this and have only gotten closer since we've gotten married. However, she always asks if my husband is home and we'll only talk for a minute or two if he is. And, I don't talk to her about my marriage. I have never called her to vent about a fight or to ask her input on something marriage related. My husband and I have an agreement that our business is our business. That extends to him talking to his family also. Before that, because of the time difference, we only spoke on the weekends. My mom is kind of old school, she's learning, but she doesn't really send emails, although, she does email my husband, lol.
