I don't love the experience - we've got more comfortable seating, better food, and a pause button at home! DH loves the movies, however, and will go every month if there are things out to see. Usually we go as a family to the drive in, so if LO is cranky we don't disturb the whole world. But usually go after dinner & bath, so he's in bed mode. If there's a movie I really want to see & hear properly I will go on my own, or with friends. Date nights are sadly too scarce for us to use on movies anymore! It's just not that important to me anymore, I actually prefer bringing a Redbox home to watch instead. My husband asked if I wanted to go on our last date night, and I told him no, I'd much rather sit and share a bottle of wine somewhere we can talk and catch up on just us. I prefer to be doing other things while movies/tv is on and multitask. We won't get to watch movies in El Nido, and it reminded us of how much we used to watch movies pre-kids. Watching at home just doesn't match up to the experience of going to a theater. The last movie I saw before this I think was Gone Girl. We probably see 3 movies a year, whereas before kids it was at least once a month. How often do you watch movies in the theater?
