He also nurses at bedtime and once (sometimes twice) during the night, so in total 3 nursing sessions in every 24 hour period. She was BF-ing about 8 times a day but I think the stress of the new environment really got to her, b/c she wanted to nurse constantly - like 10-12 times a day and all night long. DH and I actually got married there two years ago. DH's dad comes from there so we have loads of family in Spain and we had the most gorgeous wedding. We're actually wondering whether we could pull off a secret baptism for A while we're there (just me, DH and a godmother in the tiny church we married in) but that's a whole other post, ha ha. It's pretty widely accepted across Europe and they are much less modest than the US in general, so I am sure you won't have a problem BF'ing there. As for frequency, my LO is 8.5 months old and still has 5 - 6 nursing sessions per day, which is exactly what she's been having since she was two months old. She has solids twice per day but still keeps up with the same number of nursing sessions, although they are shorter in duration (5 - 8 minutes instead of 10 - 15 minutes). And by the way, super exciting you're going to Spain! Where is the wedding? That includes an overnight feed, first thing in the am, and before bed. No overnight feeds and he is awake from 530-730 (roughly, with naps). I'm guessing she still won't be on bottles by then and even if she is, it's very hot so I wouldn't want to cart pumped milk around all day, I'd rather give it from the source. But I don't know how breastfeeding is viewed in Spain... so am a bit anxious about it : ) Anyway, I wondered how often did you or do you breastfeed your nine month old?
