Every morning. He refuses to let go when we get in the door, breaks down when I pry him off my leg or out of my lap after a hug. It is terrible. To be fair, we pulled him from his last daycare that was about 50/50 bad mornings to go to a temp babysitter with her kids while we looked for a new daycare. She's not a great match for my cuddly sensitive child, but we know it is temporary till we find a better place.

LO1 (5) wakes up on the wrong side of the bed once every other month or less. It's rare, but when it happens... oh boy, it's a disaster. Screaming child walking to the bus stop who refuses to get on the bus sort of ordeal. LO2 (3) refuses to walk into the classroom once or twice a week (he only goes 3x/wk...). It's a struggle to get him into the classroom, but the teachers are great and help get him adjusted.

Last year - every day.

This year - we switched to another school and he's only had one bad day, which ended the second we got in the car (he didn't want to leave whatever toy he was playing with that morning). The new school made a huuuuuge difference.

They are all bad right now because of the new baby. Once she gets there, she is fine, but it's the getting up/ready/in the car that is rough.

@winniebee: my middle son has a bad drop off everyday too! 2.5 years old and has a fit everyday. His teachers have to hold him and he flails around and kids them everyday. Ugh!

Since starting school right after Labor Day, we had one bad one with DD1 (as in, I left her crying in the hallway with her teacher), and one weepy/clingy one with DD2 (the first day). I consider myself very lucky!

DD1 did daycare full-time when she was younger and was often weepy/clingy...like 3 out of 5 days! She grew out of it around 2.5-3.

@runnerd: I'm sorry you have so many rough mornings, I feel you pain. I'm glad you posted because I was beginning to think there was something wrong. My daughter is 26 months old and dropoffs are ROUGH!

Never. I think she would have some bad mornings if I did drop-off instead of DH though because she gets upset when I leave the house/room sometimes.

None but she is 5. I don't know what went on preschool. DH did that and I think it was more drama about getting ready than drop off.

Maybe once a month, too, with DS. But he says every morning that he doesn't want to go because he wants to hang out with me :bummed: I used to feel so guilty, but now DD's sleep has gone to the dogs so I'm 100% sure he's better off in day care than with me. I'm a beast now when anyone needs anything from me, plus work is the only time I can eat, sit, and rest my mind a little.

Funny enough, DD is such an easy kid in the morning and goes off to day care without a fuss. Though maybe she'll start to object more when she gets a little older.

Now that he's gotten back into the routine of school, hardly ever. That being said....he throws a major meltdown about going into gymnastics almost every week. I dread Fridays because I never know how it's going to go. And there is almost no way to know with him because he will say he's excited to go, get there and play with the other kids while we wait to go in, and then totally refuse to participate when it's time for the class to start. And he's been doing gymnastics for 2.5 years, so it;s not like it's something band new to him. *sigh*

Maaaaybe like once a month too, max... And by bad I mean like she just is more clingy/weepy and didn't want to let go of daddy right away (DH does drop off). We've never really had a full out meltdown drop off before!

We have a bad morning about once a month. This morning was one. First her boots felt weird when we were in the car. We walked in and adjusted her socks and then sat in the gym for 10 minutes with me getting more and more frustrated and her sitting there, stubborn, refusing to move because something felt "weird." She cried the whole time. She snotted on me when she was giving me my kisses and hugs. So, we both had a bad morning. Happy Halloween!
