We don't give dessert (that's for after bedtime) but LO gets an M&M for going potty and those add up.

I do freeze coconut water into little popsicles and LO thinks that's the best treat on hot days.

DS1 thinks that if he drinks his milk all gone he gets chocolate. Granted we might give him one M&M but I still am trying to break him the "habit".

D doesn't ask very often, so when he asks for a sweet treat, I usually allow it, as long as it isn't too close to dinner time.

M occasionally gets cookies like teddy grahams occasionally, but he doesn't get candy or anything like that. He'll have some ice cream, if I'm sharing, though. :)

Yes. She has started demanding a treat as soon as we get to Target (where there is a Starbucks). :meh:

Usually, she is content with fruit/fruit strips/fruit pouches as her treat though.

Never, really, right now. Unless you count fruit (which I give at the end of meals otherwise she wouldn't eat anything else. lol. With her staying home with me and a family that is super respectful of our feeding wishes she hasn't ever had a cookie or ice cream or junk food yet so she thinks cut strawberries are super duper exciting lol

He does get some ice cream or fruit gels (those little agar gels, does anyone know what I'm talking about? I get them from the Korean market) many nights, but not every night. We often say it's from the tooth fairy for doing a good job brushing his teeth every day. I know, ironic 😄

His "special treat" is a vitamin, lol. If he's finished all of his dinner without whining he can get an "extra special treat" which is usually his choice of fresh fruit (especially raspberries) or yogurt with fruit on the bottom. Very rarely a cookie or bite of ice cream.

I'm pretty strict about junk food in the house...I know eventually he'll have more access to it, but while I can control his diet as much as possible and try to set him on a path of thinking of things like fruit as a treat I will (and D will still choose fresh fruit as a treat over anything else).

I make popsicles out of smoothies, and he calls those a treat. Raisins. Sometimes "healthier" crackers I can convince him are treat. A bit of nutella on something.

Don't get me wrong, though. He gets all sorts of crap now that he's almost 3. But when we're trying really hard, the things above can sometimes pass for a "treat."

DS thinks getting his daily gummy vitamin is a treat! lol

He'll occasionally ask for ice cream. Otherwise, we don't give him a treat unless we're eating it also.

@yellowbird: my kids love sprinkles so sometimes I do oatmeal as their bedtime snack and add sprinkles or we do a greek vanilla yogurt with some sprinkles - makes it seems like a treat!

eta: we also do freeze pops and cookies, its not all healthy stuff all the time!

@yellowbird: we have the same problem. She eats one bite of dinner and says, "I have a treat now?" Um, no. She knows if she doesn't eat her dinner, she doesn't get a treat. Last night she had one bite of her meat and thought she was getting a treat because she ate her veggies and fruit. Nope. It's hard because my husband likes to give her treats every day.

@sorrycharlie: those are the treats we always have on hand, too. I like to bake, though so we'll sometimes have cookies or brownies or cake or muffins.....

My daughter has quite the sweet tooth and has somehow come up with the idea that she needs a treat every time she finishes a meal. Obviously I don't give in every time especially if she doesn't eat well, but I do give her a cookie or a freeze pop a few times a week.

Are there healthier things I can disguise as being a treat?
