@Bao: The breakthrough for us was when we learned that tantrums can result from the kids being overwhelmed with desire! After that, I cut back for a while on everything that the kids really desired with all of their hearts - videos, their favorite treats, their favorite toys. It really kind of re-centered them, and then we could add their most desired items back in measured doses! But never at night - only in the morning when they weren't sleepy or hungry.

It made a huge, huge difference. Well also, my daughter's language really improved too which really helped too. But even now, if I'm not careful, she can get overwhelmed by desire and meltdown. It's a lot more rare than before, but the same things usually work to address it!

I'm almost afraid to jinx it but yes things have been peaceful of late. Baby girl coming in a month and a half though so I expect a storm.

At least 10 times per day if not 20 or more. One day I tried to count, and I gave up at 20, and that was before we even hit dinner/bedtime/bathtime.

Lately I have been kind of worried that she has too many tantrums! It's nice to hear we are not alone. She is cutting two teeth (one finally popped through thankfully) and I think she is frustrated that she can't communicate everything. She has learned "all done" just in the past few days and already that has helped at meal times.

DD - hardly ever anymore. She whines and pouts sometimes, but no tantrums.

DS - Several times a day. I hope I can get through the 2's with this guy! The 3's were great with DD, so hopefully it'll be the same with DS!

Once every couple of days! She has a crying fit and then moves on. Fingers crossed it doesn't get worse!

After a long period of difficulty, things have gotten so much better with our youngest lately! However this morning, she wanted to do her Frozen floor puzzle a second time and there just wasn't time. After I failed to convince her with logic (will I never learn?), I just picked her up and started running so we wouldn't be late. Of course, she cried all the way out the door and halfway there. She finally calmed down when I sang "Let it Go" to her as if I had no dignity or shame.

She was sad when I said goodbye so I think it really got to her. Normally she doesn't even look back when I wave goodbye at her preschool!
