it doesn't get easier as they get older! My LO is 2 and still comes home from daycare with bruises and scratches. Most are from just playing with the kids at daycare and accidents will happen. She's had 2 bigger accidents where she got pushed (accidentally) and bit her lip so it was puffy and red. Plus she was also sporting a nice black and blue bruise on her leg. It really looks bad sometimes .... but it's just the nature of toddlers.

There is rarely a week that DD does not have some sort of bruise or scrape. She is actually quite cautious, but toddlers are toddlers... Her soft spot did not close until quite late and my ped kept telling me that was a *good* thing - said it was a little shock absorber.

She has little cuts (her nails grow so fast) all the time. Bruises from falling at day care.

we used to always joke that E was getting into fights with the other kids at daycare. it's not so bad now that she's been walking for so long! Her knees are almost perpetually scraped up from tripping outside, though. the crawling stage was very short lived for her

Daily. I had to sign two injury reports yesterday at daycare because she was being her fearless self and banged into things. I love that she's brave, but I could do without my kid being covered in scrapes and bruises. :silly:

@Sapphiresun: I love how we're both stressing about the same thing!! I certainly feel less worried about it knowing that every baby goes through it!

My toddler is older now but she has always had bruises on her legs since she could walk. She climbs everything and falls often and it's always been this way, just different types of falls. Daredevil!

@birdofafeather: K too!

I find randome scratches and cuts on her face and arms all the time. :crying: And her little legs seem to have some bruise or another constantly.

Yup. Here too! He's fearless and it's a rare day that he doesn't have a big old bruise on his forehead! I have taken care to baby proof anything that could cause major damage but have learned over the last two months that he's been walking I can't control it all! Mostly he just quickly cries after a fall and I try not to make it too big of a deal/react too strongly because I don't want to raise a crybaby. :) I will say it has gotten a lot better in the last few weeks... finally!

at that age she went through a couple week period where she had bruises all over her face, and seemed to get a new one every day. She is now 14 months old, and Id say she probably gets one bruise every 10 days or so. I'm not super cautious though, I kind of let her do her thing....so she might get more than the average kid?

It's so horrible. My LO just turned one, he's been walking since he was 10 months. We're visiting my parents and their house is a non-child proofed nightmare! Poor guy has already had a bloody nose (his first :crying: ), and tons of bumps and bruises. It's so tough, but I keep trying to remind myself that they're resilient, and they'll grow out of it. I hope!

He hurts himself daily and is surprisingly resilient! It's hard when babes that young start walking because they can't think it all through! Neither can my 20 month old for that matter :wink:

Guys, my 10.5 month old looks like someone has been beating her. She's just started cruising about 3 weeks ago, and is starting to get brave about it, but has zero common sense. I've put padding on as many sharp corners as I can find, but she's still finding ways to hurt herself.

Yesterday she was cruising around the coffee table, and did a full on lay back trust fall onto the floor. Today she was head banging along with the music on her toy and did a face plant onto the table, and her bottom teeth cut through her top gums, and oh my gosh... so much blood. And she's recently discovered she can also stand up and jump in her crib, and then throw herself up against the bars, so her legs are just covered in bruises.

I want to let her have some independence, since cruising around tables etc is how she'll eventually teach herself to walk properly, but she's just so clumsy part of me wants to like, keep a hand on her at all times, but I'm not even sure THAT would help the situation, since she recently also managed to give herself a face bruise head butting my collar bone....

ETA: I just noticed Cherrybee also posted a similar thread today, so I'm following along there too if you don't want to repeat yourself!
