@Smurfette: i'm not sure if they sell it at target--i bought them on amazon. i should mention that they're not perfect, like the straw can get a little pushed down (not all the way) so that i have to pull it back up, but in terms of leaks this has been my favorite. hope you find something you like!

We started the transition around 11 months, and took them away completely right after he turned a year old. He preferred regular cups to sippy cups. He took to it really well though, we never switched from newborn nipples and I think he really liked the fast flow of the cup.

@coacheswife123: This is our dilemma. LOs are 15 months, and I've TRIED to get rid of the bottles, and it's just not happening. Epic fits. I am going to keep trying, but I figure that they're not going to be on bottles forever, and I'm just going to take my time and not stress out about it. They'll be done when they're ready to be done. They take water out of their sippys like champs, it's just the milk that they have problems with. Sigh.

@Smurfette: we haven't had any issues yet! Not even with overflow milk in the straw, because there's a + cross suction on the straw end!

@Smurfette: i think i mentioned this on another board to you, but i have tried the avent and oxo straw cups--i like the avent best. when it tips over, some of the milk in the straw comes out, but i think there is a valve or something that prevents too much milk from coming out. i used to like the oxo cup, but it has been leaking more and more. when it falls on the floor, it will drip and drip.

@RubyCali: I should've updated this! On day two or three he shared my morning smoothie with me from a straw! Ever since then I've been making him a large smoothie in the mornings. He drinks about 6 oz of it in the morning and 6 oz in the afternoon. And - we are still doing a night time bottle. Not ideal but I'm glad we are at least done with the daytime bottles!!! I haven't been worried about his milk intake with the smoothies each day! As soon as he wakes up I just give him his smoothie instead of his bottle. He loves it!

GOOD LUCK!

After 22 mo, I finally eliminated nighttime bottle. Unfortunately, they drink so much less milk now. They will just sooo much with the bottle and with cups, they just drink less. O well, trying to fit dairy in in other ways.

This is going to sound bad, but lo still gets a nap time bottle (and whenever she asks for it) at 2 & 1/2. She drinks from her sippy regularly, but only liked milk in bottles. I'm just going with it. DH would like to eliminate bottles completely, but really she only gets like 2 4oz bottles a day so I don't think it's worth the battle.

LO gave up daytime milk (opting instead for a straw cup of water) when I tried to switch her bottles to sippy or straw cups around 13 months. So I've kept her night bottle a bottle...but at 20 months and with LO#2 due at the end of April/Beginning of May I think I need to try again to swap the night bottle for a cup of some sort. I'll just feel terrible if this makes her give up milk entirely though, so I'm torn. I'm considering telling her we have to give the bottles to the little baby and buying her done cool new big girl cups...
