I bought my first car when I was 24, and my first house when I was 23. The car purchase was actually for the hubby, but under my name. I was still driving the car my parent's bought me when I was 18. We bought our current house when I was 31. I'm 33 now and lucky enough that I've never had to buy my own car yet (a bunch of hand-me-downs and then my current car was new and I hope to drive forever!) I barely know how to drive. Ok, that's not true. I don't like driving, and everywhere I've lived having a car is a big additional expense, which I could never afford. DH bought our apartment before I moved in. While I technically co-own it with him, I don't believe I bought it. DH owns our condo and I rented before I met him (same problem as @Mrs. Bee - my downtown neighborhood was so damn expensive and I wasn't ready to move out to where things were cheaper to buy)..
