Our goal has always been to live in Manhattan! We started looking in January and found that it would be very difficult to get everything we wanted and needed - 1 bed flex/convertible since we couldn't afford a two bedroom, dishwasher... And still have left over income for daycare/nanny. We looked in Bronxville briefly but never in a million years expected to own so soon after! We've moved around a good bit since college, but are still not in a place, financially, to buy a home (at 27). I'm not sure when we'll get to that place, either. We are 25 and still at least a few years away from being able to buy. It is SO. FRUSTRATING because we live in NYC where the prices are just insane. In another city we'd be in our own home already. Here we're renting a small apartment for an outrageous price while we just try to save everything we possibly can. We also want to put at least 20 percent down which means we'll need to save A TON to get something even remotely nice around here.
