Their fathers were stationed together and the two couples (DH's grandparents) were good friends and bridge partners. There's a picture of a toddler FIL pushing an infant MIL in an umbrella stroller. They were friends all of their lives but didn't date until they were in their early-mid 20's. When they were teens they'd actually set each other up on blind dates with friends!
