I was 27 or 28 when we started trying. It was unexplained for a long time then they settled on diminished ovarian reserve. I didn't know for a long time that my grandma went into menopause at 35 and my mom before she turned 40. We had a miscarriage when I was 33, then I had my DD at 35. I had my DS at 38 and a miscarriage last year at 40. My mother was barely able to conceive me, and never conceived again. My periods were never regular, so I just knew that I wouldn't have an easy road. We both had crazy exes before we met. It came out right before they broke up that she was on drugs. I believe she got some help and is happily married now. I had one period at age 15 and that was it. I wouldn't have one unless I was on birth control. My mom struggled with infertility so to me it was kind of a normal idea, I knew I would need to get help and I knew there were several options for me to try. I just didn't know which one would work. Over the years I have seen 4 different GYN's and 2 different RE's. I was 29. Since then I've switched clinics and now have a diagnosis of PCOS and DOR. But I did get referred to the RE after 6 months of TTC and I was 28. DH was 29. ETA: When we got referred to the RE, we thought it was a male factor. After being diagnosed, it turns out it was me, too. I had long cycles and infrequent ovulation. Before I started the pill (I started when I was 18) I had "normal" cycles so I guess I developed PCOS symptoms sometime during/after being on the pill. I was 29, almost 30 and DH was 30 when we first went to the RE and got 'diagnosed' as unexplained IF. I had no reason to think we would have issues TTC, but it was always this gut fear of mine. It's genetic. I think it originated with DH or was passed from his dad. I don't think we'll ever know. We had no clue. And even then...I am out of the category anyways now that I have E and #2 baking. But i know there are a few of us with MTHFR and MTHFR in general is pretty common! I was diagnosed after my second mc. I was 26, I think.
