@HabesBabe: that's okay! I'm happy to answer. I'll adjust based on when he woke up last. He has been waking around 7-730am so his first nap is around 9:30-9:45. Then depending how long he sleeps, he will go back down around 3 hours later. I guess I should also note that I can put him down awake and he will fuss a little bitand then put himself to sleep. If I try letting him cry when he wakes up early, he doesn't go back to sleep.

@CRGmama: Is his wake up time consistent? And when you say you are trying to put him down at the same time, is it at the same time on the clock each day, regardless of when he woke up? Or adjusting for how long he's been awake? Sorry... I just realized that was about a million questions in a row. LOL

@HabesBabe: nope, that's smart thinking but unfortunately it's usually 2. Some days if he napped particularly badly he will take a 3rd cat nap but that's not the norm.

Is he still on 3 or 2 naps? Maybe he's ready to drop a nap at this age? I don't remember when C dropped her 3rd nap, but whenever we kept a 3-nap schedule, it was hard to get her down for any of them. Once we switched to two naps, it made the day (and naps!) that much easier.

Do I get my 8 month old to take a proper nap? He occasionally will take a decent one but he averages anywhere from 15 mins (seriously....) to an hour. It's maddening because I cannot reliably plan anything around his naps. I'm working on putting him down at the same(ish) time and following a routine. Nothing seems to be the difference between a good nap or a shitty one. It's pure chance. Any advice?
