Oh jeez, not worried enough I guess . I keep them in a basket that LO could easily get into, I think we would hear him though, he is usually in our sights. But maybe I will put them away in a cabinet.

I probably don't worry enough... after hearing that story just last night I was cutting the corner off a bag of frozen fruit and I thought how easily that little bit could fall to the ground and find its way into some curious babe's mouth :( Fortunately my kids seem past the age of just putting whatever into their mouths. I do worry about my dry-cleaning bags and whether someone might think it's a good idea to get in there with the clothes sometime. Should probably just always recycle them immediately...

@googly-eyes: that's what I mean--- I mean at 9 months, my LO is crawling but she's never out of my sight line. And at 6 months she was rolling all over but I never just left her alone in a room unless she was in her crib or exersaucer while I went to the bathroom or something.

I'm much more worried about small objects LO is starting to find on the floor that I don't even know are there.
Plastic bags at least crinkle and alert you that they are being touched, unlike the sewing needle that is somehow in the crack of the baseboard or the small plastic cap from a water bottle that's rolled off the kitchen counter. Now THAT stuff I'm hyper vigilant about.

I'm not too worried but I don't leave them around. They are in places dd could get to although she's never shown interest.. We barely get plastic bags (grocery stores, target, etc. don't give them out) so we don't have a ton. Dd used to empty a drawer of baggies and then stuff them back in a drawer but I was right there. Guess I'm lucky she didn't try to eat one.

@Anagram: idk, once my LO could roll both ways at 5.5 months she could easily (quickly!) roll pretty much anywhere in the room.. But she wasn't left unattended more than a few seconds unless in an enclosed area (play pen, crib.)

I'm not. Our ziplocs are in a drawer with a child lock and the rest under the sink with a child lock.

Either way, it's so sad when tragic things like that happen to families.

I hadn't thought of it until now but that other thread definitely made me think about it! Currently my big fear is her suffocating in her crib with how much she's rolling around. Someone in a breastfeeding group I'm in on Facebook posted that her 5 month old rolled over in her crib and suffocated. I can't stop thinking about it.

My LO loooooooves plastic bags. So I am very careful to keep them all out of reach.

@Anagram: This is my imagination getting the better of me, but my LO would love to chew on plastic. I could imagine her getting a piece off - she had teeth and could crawl at 6 mo - and choking on it.

I should be more careful. My LO got a small plastic tote out of my closet the other day and pulled in down completely over her head. I usually don't feel like there are many around the house (most are in a closet she can't get into), but I should probably do a sweep and make sure she can't find more.

Hnm... So few details! I dunno, I'm not really concerned with plastic bags. My LO is only 9 months so I never leave her unattended unless she's in her crib napping and nothing is in her crib.

I let her play with plastic bags of all kinds because she loves the crinkle. But I'm always right there.

It's hard for me to imagine how a 6 month old could choke on a plastic bag because I just wonder how they got it and where the parents were, etc etc because 6 month olds aren't super mobile.

Anyway, I'm still not overly concerned about them. I have them in all my trash cans in the house, and the top shelf in the pantry.

@CupQuakeWalk: Not sure if you saw the other thread? I had dismissed the chances of something happening as well (we're somewhat careful but far from paranoid), but it was scary to hear that the worst case scenario had happened to someone else.

Extremely, but my LO isn't even here yet. I just have a cat who makes it his mission to eat ANY plastic we leave out... and then puke it up an hour later. So we've gotten really anal about not leaving any sort of plastic out anywhere so we don't have to clean up puke constantly. I guess that will work to our favor with LO too.
