I don't drink much coffee, but my husband is a connoisseur. He has two coffee pots and usually makes his in a Fresh Press. Like Birdofafeather mentioned, he grounds his beans fresh and uses filtered water.

I make great coffee with a French press. Still haven't figured out the chemex proportions exactly!

A key is fresh grinding good beans each morning. Yum.

I think I'm excellent. We use an aeropress, which is kind of similar to a French press.

I am not patient enough in the mornings to make really excellent French press coffee, so I try to leave it to my husband, because he does. His coffee is amazing, but it's like a tea ceremony is going down in the kitchen while he's doing it. It really matters how you pour the coffee, stir the coffee, etc. etc. I completely lack the patience for all of that first thing in the morning.

Do you have a burr grinder? That's the first step.

I use a regular coffee maker, and I'm pretty good at making it. I like mine a little strong though, so some people may not like it.

I used to make great drip coffee, but we don't even own that type of coffee pot anymore, we switched to Keurig and then Nespresso since I only drank 1 cup in the am and dh didn't use to drink any (he's addicted to cappuccinos now...)

Despite working at Starbucks in college, I'm terrible at using regular coffee machines. I can totally rock a latte, but the regular old drip machines never taste consistent for me. I'm pretty good with a french press though!

I don't like coffee from a French Press, call me strange. It was always off tasting, no matter what kind of grounds I used.

I like Folgers in a drip machine best.

I've been making non-instant coffee with a French press in the mornings, and the quality has been so inconsistent! I did some research, and someone said it's like baking: you have to be super exact with your measurements, and the timing of things. Hmm, maybe that explains it.

How good are you at making coffee? Or do you just go with instant or a coffee machine...
