It depends what it is. Different illnesses have different amounts of time that it requires for a person to become symptomatic. It's possible, but definitely not a certainty. I don't know about where you are, but EVERYONE here has been sick with all kinds of junk, so I just assume we're always a walking time bomb of illness.

The norivirus can supposedly live in surfaces for 7 days!!! Crazy. I Lysol wipes like crazy and even machine washed all of DS1's stuffed animals!

i think it can pass in a day. one time MIL was sick, bad hacking cough, and even tho we, including BIL who is a doctor(!!),all told her not to hold DD she still got a hold of her somehow. anyway, the next day DD had a cough that sounded almost identical. Coincidence? maybe, but probably not. haha smh

I was just reading about the norovirus. That sucker can last for days, even when dried out. And it hits fast and hard. Good luck!!!

@psw27: @Boogs: ugh! I'm kicking myself for not separating them - the mom assured me that he got sick from eating old pizza but my gut told me otherwise - DH just went to grab him from school - just a fever for now....fingers crossed its doesn't turn into a stomach bug!!!

I would totally accuse them of being a carrier monkey. Too much of a coincidence for me.

I think with certain bugs/viruses/strains 20 hours is totally possible. Especially things like the flu and stomach viruses. My mom is of the opinion that colds and viruses are "7 days coming, 7 days going" but I think that's an old wives tale.

If someone was sick and your child was around them and then 20 hours later your kid is sick.....coincidence? Or did they pass the bug?
