@Emsmems: I can't believe our babies are almost a year old! :( I think I'm going to just try to switch her over to cows milk cold turkey, unless my pedi suggests otherwise. I'm going to ask at her 1 year appt.

@MamaG: we have done water in a sippy cup. But not milk, but I'm probably just over thinking it!
@Lindsay05: thank you! Can you believe they are a year old already?! Time flies.
@mamimami: I like the way you think. Like I said, I may be over thinking this! Thanks!

If I were you I'd just offer him a sippy of WCM today and see if he likes it! No need to come up with some complicated mixing plan before you're certain he's not down for a cold cup of milk.

We transitioned by mixing a small portion of milk to formula. If she tolerated it well for a few days, then we just kept adding more milk and less formula. We started this around 11 months and now at almost 12 months (tomorrow!!) she is fully switched over. If your baby prefers it warm, just warm the cup or bottle in a bowl of hot water. Congrats on your year of bf-ing!

@Emsmems: yeah, that sounds good! I think the first couple times we did a similar combo. She liked it so we kept upping the WCM pretty steadily.

We moved from formula (warm) to WCM. We just did it for the most part. WCM is cups, formula in bottles. And we took bottles away right at a year. Our bigger mistake was that we didn't introduce cups (water) earlier. So she was trying to learn the cup at the same time as getting WCM.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: thank you! That's what I was thinking of doing, putting BM in his sippy cup and then transition. What mix did you start with? I was thinking 1 per milk, 2 parts BM?@Espion: Haha, dairy cow. That pretty much describes me! Hopefully DS follows in my footsteps!

We just gave it to E in a cup and he loved it. But he is practically a dairy cow, so there's that. We never warmed his bottles, though. (We had to BM/F combo feed.)

Congratulations!! We transitioned in less than a week, I believe. We just start mixing the two and giving it to her in a straw cup. I think that we may have even started giving her BM only in a straw cup just to get her used to it. It was something "new" and exciting to her, so she was an easy transition. We never gave warm milk so I don't have a ton of advice. I know some people warm WCM for their LO's, but we didn't.

I am 4 days away from reaching one year of Breastfeeding! Awesome, but my supply is tanking. I pump maybe 8 oz (if I'm lucky) at work and then nurse DS before bed. Today I've only pumped 4 oz at work :(. I have MAYBE 20 oz of frozen milk. So, how fast can I transition to WCM? DS doesn't seem to have any sensitivity issues to dairy (he loves yogurt and cheese). But he's used to warm milk, so how do I transition him to drinking it cold?

Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
