My parents told me they'd pay for a wedding or pay for grad school. Me being an idiot, I chose a wedding since "Oh, I can take out loans for grad school." So dumb. We did put out less than 5k but got it back in gifts. The rest, both sides of the family contributed to in piecemeal. (Grandmother bought flowers, parents bought cake and dress and photog, In-laws paid for food/bar, DJ was a friend, etc.) so no one would be much richer and it was sooooo wonderful, I wouldn't trade it for the money. </p>
