I go to Bing travel. We fly Delta exclusively so usually I'll just go to Delta.com.

I love Kayak and I basically check it like a crazy person. It also helps to have flexible dates. Even a one day adjustment this way or that can help a lot.

I'm a total type A when it comes to finding deals so I check all the sites (Kayak, Expedia, Priceline, Orbitz, Travelocity) since they compile all the airlines and prices together for me. Then, I check the individual airlines to see if they have a better deal. I also love Priceline's Name Your Own price, but you have to be flexible since they don't tell you what your departure times are until booked.

I mainly use farecast (bing) to keep an eye out for planning purposes. The best deals I've found are looking directly at airlines. AirTran, Spirit, and Southwest (and sometimes Delta) are the ones that I find the best "deals"

I have gotten incredible deals on cheaptickets.com, especially when booking a "package" for air and car. Last October, we few to Orlando, rented a car for a week, and got 2-day park-hopper tickets for Universal for $1000.

I've gotten a couple of amazing deals on JetBlue. Also, if the price of your flight goes down you get a credit for the difference, which is valid for a year. By doing that with flights we took to Buffalo last year I got $40 off my upcoming flight!

I usually check Vayama, once the flights come up, I double check with the actual airline to see if they have a promotion. Vayama used to be the cheapest, but now you can find deals directly through the airline.

For longer vacations that require a hotel stay, I check Expedia. I was given a tip from one of their reps: their rooms are typically quoted for 2 adults. So you can save money by booking 1 single airfare + room combo and then booking the 2nd airfare separately.

I second flying mid-week and booking in advance. But sometimes the big discount sites have a promo and those go pretty quick.

Airfare sales are generally cheaper on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. As it is generally the cheapest to fly on those days as well. Look at airprots an hour away sometimes it's cheaper.
If I have a trip planned I always look a year in advance so that I know how much airfare is around that time so that next year I know when to pounce on a good deal. In my experience airfare is the cheapest ~3 months in advance of your travel date. I was able to get our HM airfare from JFK-Dublin and return from Barcelona-JFK for ~$600 RT! Or if you're able to be spontaneous weeks before! :)

Besides subscribing to the major airlines that I fly routinely I also subscribe to Travelocity FareWatcher for my main routes and future trip routes.

Airfare is almost always cheaper direct from the airline's website!

And oh if you buy airfare and see that it goes down afterwards don't be afraid to call the airline up for a credit!

I love to fly, but I love a good deal as well! Whenever I have to fly I check the airline websites, then Orbitz, and finally I try Priceline's name your own price option. Recently I got a $500 ticket for $250 that way. I don't know how to find red eye flights or anything cheaper than that though. What are your tips?
