My LO has constipation issues too- it's so sa to see her cry trying to poop!! We do prunes with both meals a day- we do blw but do prune purees spoon fed. I haven't been that careful with the three day rule, but I really think doing pears and prunes both new would be fine. Neither are common allergens. Pears are also good for the pooping.

She is hit or miss with the water, but I thought breastmilk would be enough- not for my baby. The two servings a day seems to be keeping things moving though.

@singingbee: I don't think prunes are really that common of an allergen? So, I think it would be okay. I also wasn't that strict about the 3 day rule since we do not have any history of allergies.

@singingbee: coconut water. No joke: that stuff is QUICK and effective. It absorbs very well to hydrate the body quickly so the bowels just...move.

@luckypenny: she's never had those before. Do you think it's okay along with something new? We don't have allergies in our families, but I've noticed she has been really sensitive to some things that I wouldn't normally think she would be.

Try giving her some prune purée or prune juice. It helps my DD very quickly!

Lo had trouble pooping today. We starte solids for about a month I didn't really know about offering water with them, etc. she hasn't had any problems with pooping until this past Friday. She had a mix of breastfed poop and some a bit more solid, but yesterday she pooped twice and they were both solid. This morning she pooped and it was like a 4 on the Bristol poop scale, but she was crying and looking at me like what the hell is going on?!?? I called our nurses hotline and they told me I could give her 5 oz of water or some pear juice. We got some sippy cups and got some water in her. She's been eating sweet potatoes, peas, and carrots mixed with oatmeal cereal. We are going to start pears tonight.

My question is how long will it take the water or pears to help? I hated to see her cry. Anything else?
