@Pancakes: I always forget that it gets dark early farther south. Here, fireworks don't start until 10 at the earliest. It's just not dark enough before that.

We're gonna wing it, if we go. We'll keep her up and bring her carrier and stroller, so that if she wants to fall asleep, she can.

@ustechie: if he falls asleep around 9, then I would think most fireworks shows wouldn't last too long past 9:30, so maybe that wouldn't be a huge deal, if you don't have to drive too far. LO loved seeing them last year!

@Pancakes: he usually falls asleep around 9. He usually does well with little changes in routine, but he's never stayed up late on purpose. Lol

We're just going to do it however it works. LO (2) is flexible, so that makes it easy. Mostly, we would rather just go all out with the out of whack schedule than stress ourselves trying to adjust it all perfectly.

Our LO turned 2 last March (2013) and since we went into the city for fireworks, we just let her stay up. Thankfully she had gotten a great/late nap that afternoon which helped, but she was fine. If your child doesn't do as well with changes in routine, I would probably just skip fireworks all together. What time does he usually go to bed?

For those of you that are taking your LOs to see fireworks, how are you changing/adjusting their bedtime routine? We usually have dinner, bath, brush teeth/floss, books, bed. I'm wondering how we should change it up so it's not too messed up. Our son turned 2 in March and isn't a great sleeper to begin with!
