I'm a Verizon girl, too! I looked into plans where you buy the phone at full price and have a cheaper monthly rate/no contract. It just didn't work out to be a better deal for me. I'm happy with Verizon.

@Mamaof2: @Happygal: Yep, here too. Verizon has the market pinpointed if you are in my rural area.

I was prepared to switch to straight talk....I went into AT&T and asked them if they could lower our bill. We got an upgraded phone and our monthly bill dropped by 30.00 for the same stuff. They had me on an outdated plan, the new ones were much cheaper.
It might be worth an in person visit to your current provider. They will often try hard to keep you. In college I was slammed with a ton of roaming charges I didn't expect- called and asked to cancel my plan, and they dropped all the charges for me.

@lavender: I want to switch when we're done w/ Verizon too. But I am hesitant; paying for Verizon does mean really great service & fast internet. Granted, I rarely talk on the phone & use wifi all the time.

I asked my friends in this area b/c it really came down to the quality of cell phone reception for me.

@scg00387: I'm still hesitant too, but I like how they don't have contracts, so if it isn't good it'll only be a month.

No help, but following along! I think when my AT&T contract ends I'm going to switch to straight talk or ting. Why pay more when you don't have too?
