Don't ignore it! We went through this recently and attributed it to a wonder week leap and ignoring it really won't help. If you needed your SO (even if it was irrational) and he just ignored you, how would you feel?

We baby wear a lot, or if I don't HAVE to be doing something else I just enjoy the time together. They aren't going to WANT to be around us all the time for forever!

Reassurance and redirection has worked well for us during periods of clingyness/social anxiety. Waving at LO and smiling while telling her where you are going/that you will be back, redirecting her attention to something she likes (special toy, food treat, pet, etc.). A hug and then redirection also works well too.

Babywearing. It's seriously been a lifesaver for us. I tie her on my back and go about my business. She starts squirming when she's done cuddling.

M is almost 13 months. She is going through a very clingy phase. She wants to be held a lot and if either her Dad or I walk away from her (essentially turn our backs) she melts down. I know it's probably a phase but it hurts me to hear her cry. I know she's not in pain or in danger and I know I probably should ignore it but it's so hard to ignore a crying child who is clinging to your leg!

How do you deal with clingy phases?
