When I was born a family friend went to the trouble to make an ornate door plaque..... only there was an a in it. It's not too much trouble in Oz since without the a is more common but people usually double check how it is spelt. I have a name with various spellings (Alicia - worst interpretation I've seen is Elysha, literally only two letters are even correct) so I purposely picked an easy spelling name for our daughter. She's Natalie, but people often go with Natalia. I usually correct it, because that's not just a mis-spell, but pretty much a completely different name. In your case, I'd probably just make a point of when I write to her using the name spelled correctly and hope she gets the point. But, with S, there is variations that I thought long and hard about it. People do misspell, but I only speak up when it's for something important. For future LO's, if someone commonly spells it wrong, it'll depend on the circumstance, but I think at some point in your situation I would write a thank you note, signed by LO and put out many opportunities for the lady to read it right. If she still doesn't get a clue, I'd say something, cause one day your LO will know how to spell her name and will correct the lady (cause kids are like that) and the lady will probably wonder how she had been spelling it wrong all that time. I used to correct it until a friend said something very profound to me about it in college. Now I don't care. I only spell it out if it needs to be for instance I am giving out my email address.
