If she does it when you're carrying her, I agree with putting her down and walking away for a minute after telling her a stern no.

I would say loudly "Ouch! Biting hurts" and then put her down.
If she is on the ground and bites you do the same thing and then walk away. Kids want to be near you so she should learn pretty fast that if she bites you will walk away and she doesn't want that!

@BabyBoecksMom: awww I remember poor W's bite mark :( well LO did just start daycare- but i dont want her biting any kids!

@Lindsay05: I will try ignoring/anticipating and see if that works...

@yoursilverlining: ok that gives me hope- hopefully LO will stop on her own too! I know babies go through phases of testing the limits and biting, so maybe that's what this is.

@luckypenny: I could try that too- put her down and walk away. right now i continue to hold her, just pull her teeth off me, but maybe putting her down and walking away would be better. thanks!

My best friend had a biter. Her son thought it was really funny and starting biting her legs and even broke skin once! So she decided every time he but she would say "no biting" and put him in the PnP and walk away for 30 seconds-1 minute in a "time out" of sorts. It was really effective for her.

No advice, but my LO did the *exact* same thing - only ever bit me and would bite me (my arm) while I was carrying her, and grab my hand and bite it. She thought it was hilarious and whatever reaction she got (me saying "no" sternly, taking her hands and telling her "no biting", ignoring her action completely) made no difference. She kept up biting me for about a month and then stopped on her own - so, maybe it's just a phase? Hope your LO stops soon!

DD likes to do this once in awhile too. We try our best to ignore those behaviours because she is looking for that attention although its hard when it hurts! We try to anticipate it and tell her not to bite.

No advice. It's hard at that age to get them to understand that it hurts... until they experience it for themselves. (thank you daycare.....)

For a few weeks now, my 11.5 month old is doing this new thing where she bites my arm/shoulder when I am carrying her or if I take something away that I do not want her playing with. I am the only one she does it to. It really hurts and she thinks its funny and keeps doing it, and I have no clue how to discipline a baby her age. I sternly say "no" and shake my head, but she laughs and thinks it is a game! I am not sure what else to do...I do not want her to do this to other people or make this a habit!
