We've done a few things:

-No co-sleeping rule.
-She has a clock and she can only come out of her room if it's time.
-We implemented a rewards system for staying in bed.

Sorry you are going through this...! Hmm... for us we have set up a rule since he was a baby that he will not sleep with us on our bed. That's just the way it is....The rule can only be bended if we were traveling.

Another thing that really helped is, we got one of these clocks that turns green in the morning at a set time. Say, if I set it to 7:30am to turn green, my DS can not come into our room and/or wake us up until the clock turns green. If he comes in before the clock turns green then he will lose all the videos for the day (he gets 3x 3 minute videos in the morning, and maybe 1-3 videos at night). We enforce the rule and it has been working out pretty good so far. We started with the clock thing when he was 2.5+ years old? We are now 3.5 years old.

You have to be very strict though. If you bend your own rules for just one day, you can go back to square one.

Good luck to you!

@mediagirl: oh man! I can offer sympathy

I went thru this with my DS - I tried putting him back to bed and he kept coming back in my bed - I finally gave up because I felt like I had a newborn all over - I wasn't sleeping at all and was exhausted.

So for 7 months he slept with us.

After that I was DONE - I told him that he had to start off in his bed but after he woke he could come in our bed.

Then we changed it to you can come in our bed only if its after 4am (he had a clock)

We also implemented rewards for staying in bed.

Finally he started staying in bed and STTN.

It was such a process :bummed:

note: he was older than your DD though - he was 5

This is every morning now. Those pillows are where my head should be. Anyone have tips on getting kids to stay in their room?
